  1. There’s a lot of layering going on in this image, and I don’t like that because it starts to muddy down the color somewhat. Pointillism can give vibrant colors sometimes, but with color pencil it can be easy to go overboard and over saturate the paper. Then that makes me want to layer China Marker on top as I did here, and sometimes that works well. Other times, it does not. This is one of several reasons I like working on hardboard and other surfaces besides paper when working with lots of layers in color pencil drawings since the surface is more forgiving if you scratch it back down with scratcherboard techniques or with harsh eraser techniques that will rip a piece of paper to shreds.

  2. Hmm is anyone else having problems with the images on this blog loading?
    I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s
    the blog. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
