These images remind me of a watercolor painting, but they are really just digital photos of the sky.  These abstract bubbly clouds would make a nice background image on a website or blog potentially.

Oz is a simple photo of a beautiful cloud filled sky with a small foreground consisting of a few trees.

The sunrise is creating a multitude of colors in this image… the sky is so vibrant, and full of colorful contrasts that it reminds me of the color scenes in the Wizard of Oz movie after the jump from black to white to color.

Tree Study

Tree Study is a small zip file of 350 jpg files that are reference photos of trees.

Several of the photos are scrolling ‘close up’ panoramas of the tree trunk texture surface shot close to the base of the tree trunk, with aim of camera following trunk up from the ground level, and then angled to capture base shape of the branches, etc. higher up.  Some of the other photos are simply texture photos of the same type angle simply shot one after the other in a sort of hand done burst type of photo.

These photos were shot in a local park. There’s about 3 trees being photographed here. There’s also one file that is a ‘close up’ of grass in the same are these trees were located.

These are mainly reference photos to capture the basic texture of the tree trunk’s bark and basic shape of the tree and branches.

Since there are some panoramic shots in here dimensions of each image vary widely.  On one extreme we have some dimensons so wide as 912 x 17534 and 1577 x 10147, 1382 x 11574 etc. Most of the simple one shot images are 4032 x 1960 or 1960 x 4032.

All of these were shot by hand, so unfortunately no aid was used to keep camera lens equidistant from the texture between each image. I did try to be steady, but that doesn’t always work in this type of random enironmental photography.  In the future if I try to do more studies like this I plan to use some a small toy truck to act as a dolly to keep the camera’s angle more steadily equidistant from the texure being shot.

Bayside is a zip file that contains a few photos of beautiful images that were shot in Galveston Bay a few years ago.

The combination of land and sea with all of the beautiful colors make these some nice photos that would work well for blog or website backgrounds, or for general stock photo use for tropical or seaside type themes.

Two of the images are cropped versions of the same file. The rest of them are cropped versions of other photos. The cropping was done just to remove a time stamp. However, what remains are some quite nice compositions.

Panoramic Decayed Timber

Panoramic Decayed Timber is a zip file that contains several texture photos that I recently shot of some decaying timbers that are next to a driveway, holding up one yard from falling in to the next.

These lawn timbers have been slowly falling apart since they were installed over 27 years ago.  They were very weathered with age, and contain some moss, cracks, etc.

Sorry if there is some blurry areas in some of the images.  I was manually shooting these by hand instead of using an assisted device to keep distance equidistant between camera and the texture… so these might be best for copy/paste textures for various projects instead of as full on single image textures for logs in your 3d scenes, etc.

Awe

Awe is a panoramic photo that of an amazing sunrise and the cloud formations created by the sun slowly arising to bring forth the day.

There are quite a few cumulus clouds in the air that have a good potential to create some rain later in the day. This photo was shot in Boonville, Missouri around the time of the 2019 Flooding… Moisture was in the ground causing the clouds to be a lot closer to the ground than they normally are, which allowed many great cloud formations to be visible on any given day.

Many expressions come to mind when I view this image. It is a mixture of hope, and glory, but also slight worry that more rain isn’t on the way…

This type of image could be potentially used for website or blog backgrounds, advertising purposes, or as background skies for 3d projects. It’s also just a nice image to have as a screensaver…

Grid

Grid is a photo that was shot several years ago.  At the time that I created this image I was heavily in to the concept of man’s impact on the environment.

We like our nature, but we like to control it to conform it to our own uses… The telephone pole and power lines on it are how we connect with one another, and that grid can go down at any time since we are not in control even though we may fool ourselves in to believing that we are.

I love this time of day, when the street lights are just coming on or turning off, but the sun is still up… twilight hour… when our stress filled days turn in to joy filled evenings with friends and family…

6-2-2019 Morning Skies

6-22-2019 Morning Skies is a Zip File filled with 35 jpg files created today.  

The sunrise this morning was beautiful. There were clouds in front of the sun, and it was more majestic than the photos can really give honor to (especially with my Enchroma glasses that add a red tint to everything, lol – you could probably add in a red filter in Photo editing software to get similar effects, increase contrast, etc.).

I edited the images to remove the trees, etc., in the edges and just focused on the middle portion of the sky that I found to be the most interesting.  The panoramic image was created combining the photos in Autostitch.

These images were created by analyzing some videos I had shot of the sky in Microsoft Image Composite Editor that was then screen shot in to Paint Shop Pro and further cropping in Photoshop.

Starting to play with other software…

Currently working on trying to piece together a panorama with Hugin, Microsoft Image Composite Editor, and Autostitch as well as a few panorama apps in Android… . We’ll see how this goes. What I’m thinking about doing is starting to do a LOT more panoramic projects in the not too distant future. Figuring out which software works best for this is kind of tricky since each approaches the issue a little differently. May combine multiple in to one project… this could get very interesting very soon.

Back in ancient days I though I’d like to get in to doing panoramic shots to shoot outside of self/item and internal shots with photogammetry projects like d-sculpt stuff to create 3d images… at one point (back in my 20s and 30s) in time I though I was smart enough to start some crazy open source project to do both at the same time in one thing, but that was just crazy “I want to be a mad scientist when I grow up” Jeff thinking about things… now I’m actually thinking more along the process of actual adult artist/photographer in how I’m approaching these sort of things, lol.

Bunch O’ Bricks

 

Bunch O’ Bricks is a bunch of texture photos I shot of a brick wall on a building in one of Missouri’s oldest towns, Boonville, Missouri. This is a very old building and the age of the bricks shows in the textures that time has created on them.

This zip file is 1.21 Gigabytes in size and contains 506 files, all in jpg format.

These types of photos could definitely be used as background images on websites or blogs, or cropped and copied, cloned, etc. in to various wall textures in building projects in various 3d animation programs, etc.

When I shot these photos I walked the full length of the building shooting every couple of feet at roughly the same angle and along the same pathway.  Although there are some size differences, you could potentially piece them together as a puzzle if you did a little resizing in Photoshop, or some other photo manipulation program.

Downtown Clouds

Downtown clouds is a small zip file containing several digital photos I shot of some interesting clouds in a downtown Boonville, Missouri location.  Photos like this could potentially be cropped to be used on backgrounds for websites, or for various 3d animation projects, or just 2d image manipulation.

There are 39 photos in this zip file.

When I am in environments like this I feel like we are walking through God’s own surreal paintings.  The recent flooding in this area near the Missouri River has caused a lot more water in the air than normally is here, so the air is reacting with very beautiful cloud formations that are a lot closer to the ground than they normally are.

Price for this is being set at 19.93 in memory of the 1993 flooding.  We never though we’d live to see another flood of that proportion here, but this one is actually bigger in some areas.

Looks Like Rain

Looks Like Rain is a digital photo of clouds that I shot many years ago. This is a picture of a cumuls cloud that likely could start pouring down rain at any moment.  There are several layers of clouds in the images, and the overall mood to the photo appears to be gloomy. The day’s forecast is overcast with a definite chance of rain!

This type of image could defintely be useful for creative projects such as blogs or website backgrounds.  Portions of it could also potentially be edited or copied to create interesting backgrounds or sky images and actors in 3d software products such as Lightwave, 3d Studio Max, Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.

Hot is a photo of some trees in a landscape with blue sky and yellow grass in the foreground.

This image was shot on a hot summer day many years ago when I used to wander aorund on lunch breaks shooting digital photos. I like this image because it seems to be a summer theme. When I see it it reminds me of those days when fall is coming and the the sweltering sun is pounding down on us… the times when a gentle breeze may seem like a comforting touch from God himself.
